Fashion lovers, rejoice: New York Fashion Week has officially arrived. All week long, as designers debut their new autumn/winter 2024 collections, celebrities will be showing up to claim their prime front-row seats. As wonderful as it is to discuss the emerging trends, people watching is half the fun of fashion week – and the New York shows are always star-studded.
The Marc Jacobs show last week – which preceded the official NYFW calendar – was concrete proof of that. The designer’s showcase at the Park Avenue Armory brought out stars such as Chloë Sevigny, Deborah Harry and Hari Nef (the latter in an Old Hollywood-style headscarf). The trio even posed for a cheeky photo together. Christian Siriano, who always brings out the VIPs, held his show uptown at the Plaza. Alicia Silverstone and Melanie Lynskey were spotted in the crowd, and so was Busy Phillips, who is just days away from throwing a divorce garage sale she told Vogue all about.
There was star power, too, at the Tommy Hilfiger show at Grand Central Station, where the likes of Sofia Richie Grainge, Halima Aden and Kelly Rutherford sat front row. Over at Khaite, Naomi Watts made an appearance with daughter Kai, while Alexa Chung and Katie Holmes turned out for Proenza Schouler and Ulla Johnson respectively.
