Hassan Al-Khatib, the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade held an extensive meeting with officials of the British company Globeleq, which specializes in the field of renewable energy, as part of his current visit to London.
Globeleq is one of the largest investors in the field of renewable energy in Africa, and has important investments in Egypt, most notably the solar energy project in the Benban area. In addition to signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to produce green hydrogen in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).
The meeting discussed pumping new investments for the British company, which is financed by the British International Investment Corporation (BII), the investment arm of the British government in the Egyptian market and the African continent.
The meeting discussed the company’s interest in expanding its investments in the field of wind power generation, and establishing desalination plants using renewable energy, in addition to other projects aimed at reducing dependence on liquefied gas imports to reduce the import bill.
The Minister also met with Oge Diala, founder of the British company PASH Global, which also works in the field of renewable energy.
The meeting discussed the company’s interest in manufacturing solar panels in Egypt, with the aim of transforming Egypt into a regional and international center for solar energy, especially with the increasing need to establish solar power generation stations to serve green hydrogen projects.
